Social Media Optimization Is Free

Social media optimization (SMO) is a set of methods for generating publicity through social media, online communities and community websites. Methods of SMO include adding RSS feeds, adding a “Digg This” button, blogging and incorporating third party community functionalities like Flickr photo slides and galleries or YouTube videos. Social media optimization is a form of search engine marketing.

Social media optimization is in many ways connected as a technique to viral marketing where word of mouth is created not through friends or family but through the use of networking in social bookmarking, video and photo sharing websites. In a similar way the engagement with blogs achieves the same by sharing content through the use of RSS in the blogsphere and special blog search engines such as Technorati.

As long as you have content on your blog, you can submit to the social bookmarking sites and blog search engines. This method is free.

Definition Of Viral Marketing

Viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives (such as product sales) through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses. It can be word-of-mouth delivered or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet. Viral marketing is a marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message voluntarily. Viral promotions may take the form of video clips, interactive Flash games, advergames, ebooks, brandable software, images, or even text messages.

It is claimed that a satisfied customer tells an average of three people about a product or service he/she likes, and eleven people about a product or service which he/she did not like. Viral marketing is based on this natural human behavior.

The goal of marketers interested in creating successful viral marketing programs is to identify individuals with high Social Networking Potential (SNP) and create Viral Messages that appeal to this segment of the population and have a high probability of being passed along.

The term “viral marketing” is also sometimes used pejoratively to refer to stealth marketing campaigns–the use of varied kinds of astroturfing both online and offline to create the impression of spontaneous word of mouth enthusiasm.

What is e-mail marketing?

Email marketing is a form of direct marketing which uses electronic mail as a means of communicating commercial or fundraising messages to an audience. In its broadest sense, every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. However, the term is usually used to refer to:

* Sending emails with the purpose of enhancing the relationship of a merchant with its current or old customers and to encourage customer loyalty and repeat business.
* Sending emails with the purpose of acquiring new customers or convincing old customers to buy something immediately.
* Adding advertisements in emails sent by other companies to their customers.
* Emails that are being sent on the Internet (Email did and does exist outside the Internet, Network Email, FIDO etc.)

E-mail Newsletter Marketing makes use of auto-responder to distribute information to potential customers at a relatively low cost.

Advertisers can reach substantial numbers of email subscribers who have opted in (consented) to receive email communications on subjects of interest to them. The messages are automatically delivered to the people. This method is easy to track. An advertiser can track users via web bugs, bounce messages, un-subscribes, read-receipts, click-throughs, etc. These can be used to measure open rates, positive or negative responses, correlate sales with marketing.

Cost of E-mail Newsletter Marketing is only the cost of auto-responder. You can earn extra money by selling ad space on the newsletter.

What is Display Advertising?

Display advertising is a type of advertising that may, and most frequently does, contain graphic information beyond text such as logos, photographs or other pictures, location maps, and similar items.

Display advertising uses static and animated images in standard or non-standard sizes called web banners as well as interactive media that might include audio and video elements.

What is ROI?

Return on investment (ROI), or sometimes just return, is the ratio of money gained or lost on an investment relative to the amount of money invested.

Return On Investment (ROI) on display advertising will be minimum as the most people will ignore the display advertisement that are display on the website. Display advertisement didn’t have any title or description about the product. You need to pay high price for the prominent position to display the advertisement. But people will ignore the advertisement. Therefore the ROI is very low.
