Nobody can deny that it is important for successful business planning because it allows companies to have a sense of direction on what they want to accomplish and how to accomplish it. However, there are also issues in the formal planning had been increased because of the global environment under development that had challenged the importance of planning itself. Some of these issues should be facing because they reflect the real environment today. Some of the issues:

1. Planning can create rigidity that this means that when a plan was made, it is usually done with a specific timetable and the steps that must be done in this calendar. However, these types of plans have been made on the claim that the environment would not change during this period except the forecasts made at the time of planning. With this kind of planning, managers will have difficulty adapting to unique situations with new ideas and methods because the timetable and the rules had already been placed.
2. Planning inappropriate to a dynamic environment that is constantly changing environment today, in itself. Plans are usually discarded because it is more appropriate to the situation that companies are inside.
3. The plans can not replace creativity and intuition. Most successful organizations are based on creativity and intuition. But while the companies grow larger, they tend to become more formalized. And this development makes it hard for companies to continually innovate and offer new ideas so they tend to be lagging in the competition.
4. The plans tend to focus the attention of a director on today rather than tomorrow plans are usually created with a set of tasks that a director should do on a daily basis. That the discomfort of thinking about the future and see what can happen in the future. It also limits the Director of opportunities before because it is busy to follow the guidelines of the plan
5. The formal planning imposes on the success that can lead to failure, it is difficult to change plans had been found that are successful in the past. But these plans can be successful, the cause of the collapse of the company if managers are not sufficiently sensitive to change.

With all these issues is the question, "anticipates still appropriate?" Yes, it is because companies would have difficulty surviving without specific plan in place. The entire organization would become disorganized without proper planning. In fact, everyone agrees that having a plan is crucial to the success of an organization, the problem arises only when the plans are starting to become too rigid to adapt to changes in the environment. Thus the key to successful planning is to create plans that are flexible enough to adapt to changes tomorrow.
